This informal club started about 12 years ago with a group of dragon boat paddlers. Today, by word of mouth, we are a mixed group of paddlers and non-paddlers. We play once a month on Saturday evening. However, other paddlers who are also Berkeley Yacht Club members have started daytime games, from weekly to monthly, not only to play, but to socialize with others who just come to the yacht club to relax, to have fun, and to laugh.
Mahjong is a game that’s easy to learn and hard to master—sound familiar? You interact with three other players to plan strategy, read their psychologies, and estimate their skills and all of a sudden, luck of the draw and discard hands throw you off the track. It is fun with predictably unpredictable outcomes and many laughs.
