May 2024 PICYA Update

The meeting was great even before it started. On May 13, I took the ferry from Oakland to South San Francisco stopping first at Alameda where Thuy and Jeff from Alameda Yacht Club boarded making great company for the enjoyable ride the PICYA meeting. The South San Francisco ferry stop is directly across the street from Oyster Point Yacht Club.

The club is beautiful, with a cozy bar, large meeting and dining area, and nice view of the marina.

The evening started with a social mixer, and the club provided fantastic hors d'oeuvres. I had a great time talking with some of the category winners from Opening Day on the Bay.

Dinner was fantastic, with the stuffed sole the highlight of the plate. I was lucky enough to sit with members of the Alameda Yacht Club and the Single Sailors Association, who were convivial dining companions.

The meeting was dedicated to awards for the recent Opening Day on the Bay event, with dozens of awards and gift baskets bestowed on event participants in various categories. Given the tight focus of the meeting, there were no updates or club business.

How ironic that the sole, having lived its life being flat, should find itself stuffed in death.
