On Saturday, December 7, Berkeley Yacht Club celebrated our 2024 Commodore Mary Garfein at a Mardi Gras-themed Commodore’s Ball. Our dining room was beautifully decorated by Linda Bostic and several volunteer chefs in the kitchen put together an amazing meal of Pecan crusted Cod, Bourbon Pork, Dirty Rice and sautéed greens. The Commodore herself made the spice cake dessert, served with vanilla ice cream and an incredible caramel sauce.
The Club was packed to the rafters with members and guests enjoying the fare and the camaraderie. Music was playing and drinks were flowing in the bar.
After dinner, Commodore Garfein presented the annual awards to our highest achieving member volunteers who made extra efforts this year to make our club operations, events, regattas and cruises the special endeavors that they are.
Commodore Garfein officially handed off the gavel to incoming Commodore Graeme Lowe, who thanked the outgoing 2024 Directors and Officers and welcomed the incoming 2025 Officers and Directors who were elected by the membership and will serve the club alongside him.
