Big Windward - Leward Race to Pt. Bonita!

Dear Berkeley Yacht Club Racers and Cruisers!

The BYC is hosting a new race this year called the Big Windward Leeward on September 9th, and I am inviting all BYC Racers, on behalf of the Berkeley Yacht Club, to join in the fun.

The race will start off the Berkeley Marina near the BYC Buoy, round Pt. Bonita Buoy to port, and finish roughly in the same place as the start (with a bit more room provided for dousing spinnakers). The race is open to any monohull with a current PHRF rating or multihull with a current BAMA rating. Registration and the NOR are posted on Jibeset:

If you want to sail the course without racing please do, but please stay clear of the start line area and the finish line area, and give racers room at the Point Bonita mark. The racers will start between 10 and 10:30am. If you plan to sail the course as a cruiser I would recommend getting started by 9:30.

After the race the BYC is hosting a party with a live band and a taco caterer, and we hope all BYC members will come to the party.

There will be at least +3.5 feet of tide all day long on September 9th, according to NOAA, from the race start at 10am until midnight, with plenty of water for most boats in the olympic circle.
