Please allow me to introduce you to Kathleen Gadway, Berkeley Yacht Club's October-November Artist-in-Residence.
Ms Gadway's recent works are observational paintings, exploring light and color using the color spot method. These pieces are painted in oil or gouache, en plein air and in the studio. She states that she "paints to immerse herself in the world and respond to all its beauty. When all goes well this can be a time of painting without thinking, when light, color, and the brush, take over".

Dear BYC Members and Lovers of All Things-Clean;
I am pleased to be able to report to you that a number of our members checked-in last week to contribute their expertise and time for an ad-hoc "clean and shine" day at the BYC club house.
For all who would like to have a 2017 Pacific Inter-Club Yacht Association (PICYA) Yearbook, they are available at BYC just inside the front door. For those who are not familiar with the Pacific Inter-Club Yacht Association take a look it is a listing of all the member yacht clubs and membership as of January 1, 2017. This yearbook is updated each year. Check out page 741 If you have any questions just ask Patti Brennan, BYC delegate and PICYA Director.
This event held annually at Encinal Yacht Club and provides veterans, many confined to wheelchairs (US Coast Guard & the Alameda/Oakland Fire Depts. do all the lifting of the Vets in chairs on & off the boats), with the rare opportunity to experience a boat cruise on the Oakland Estuary &San Francisco Bay along the San Francisco City front (Boat Skippers determine their own route).
Last year over 250 Vets were served!!!
Next week the annual shoreline cleanup day takes place. To get this done, we're recruiting new and old members and leaders for the BYC Stewardship Committee. Please know that under the leadership of our own beloved member and marine biologist Carol Keiper through the years, this event has been a huge success and an incredible community builder of new relationships throughout the marina. We now NEED YOU to help us continue this tradition.
