For January we have a guest booked. We will have the privilege to have Mr. Anthony M. (Mac) Smith as the featured speaker. Mac has an amazing life story as a mechanical engineer that ranges from working on the Apollo 11, Jet engines, and nuclear reactors. He will share with us his story about designing the Apollo 11 Command Module recovery system that allowed the capsule to land safely at sea.
As for food, I have a little Argentinean surprise and some space teamed snacks.
Valentine's Day Weekend Crab Feast!
Assorted appetizers All you can eat fresh Dungeness crab cooked to perfection. If you do not eat crab, we are planning chicken and vegetarian options for your dining pleasure. Served with bread and butter, a salad, a green vegetable, and drawn butter. Followed by a delicious dessert.
As you may know on the first day of year the Berkeley Yacht Club celebrates the new year with the Commodores Mystery Cruise. To make sure everyone has enough energy on New Year's Day to go out on the water, it's traditional to serve a breakfast at the club. This year Steve Crawford and myself are planning a simple breakfast of waffles, maple syrup, a sausage each with OJ or Coffee to drink. The breakfast will be offered from 9am to 11am.
The 2020 Board of Directors has voted to change the monthly Board of Directors' meeting date to the first Tuesday of each month. The next board meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 7th, 2020. As always you are encouraged to attend. A light meal is provided starting at 630p and the meeting officially begins at 7pm.
Once again BYC will be hosting our annual New Year's Eve celebration!

CHILDREN'S HOLIDAY PARTY Sunday, December 15 2:00 to 5:00 pm
THIS IS AN ANNUAL BYC FAMILY EVENT Bring your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or the cute tot next door or just come and enjoy the smiling faces of other members' kids. There will be much to entertain and Santa will make his annual appearance by sea. Be sure to bring a gift for each child escorting you clearly labeled with his or her name. (Please write clearly and attach the label so Santa can get the right presents to the child).
Join us for the City of Berkeley's 3rd Annual Winter on the Waterfront, a chance to celebrate winter with activities for all ages including real snow, a lighted boat parade, visits with Santa, and a fireworks display over the Bay. This free event takes place on December 14, 2019, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in front of the Berkeley Yacht Club. Decorate cookies or enjoy a cup of free hot cocoa while listening to holiday music and enjoying some of the best views around.
Berkeley Yacht Club will be participating in a holiday toy drive for children in need this season. A large box for unwrapped children's gifts will be conveniently placed in the central lounge space of the club for your convenience. We would like to have an OVERFLOWING box to donate by December 20th.
