Happy May Day everyone. I wish it were under better circumstances I was sending this greeting. But here I am once again hoping you are managing during this shelter in place. I think it is sad news that I have to report the Club will remain closed at least until the first of June as mandated by the City and County. But I think we all agree we need to err on the side of caution with this virus. Stay home and find a new hobby. The Club is only open to our GM Philip, myself, and my husband, Bob Henderson.

As of yet, the 2020 Lipton Cup is still on so it is prudent to plan as if it will happen. For those of you not familiar with the Lipton Cup, this is a three day regatta sailed with J-22's provided by the host club (SBYC) with the bay area clubs competing against each other as teams. The BYC is in need of experienced racers to crew. There will be several events each with specific rules about the qualifications for the helmsmen: They are:
June 19: Admirals Cup - Destination Race - helmsperson must be over 60 by 6/21/2020.
Hi everyone. I hope you are safe and sound in your shelter in place accommodations. I understand every day gets harder as we learn a new way of life. Hopefully, we are approaching the peak and will soon see the curve head the other way and get closer to our life as we used to know it. We had our monthly Board of Directors Meeting last night via Zoom. For those of you who were not there here is a brief update. The Yacht Club will remain closed until further notice.
Hi everyone, I hope you are staying at home and finding some interesting things to do or learn. I wish I could say this is a bad April fool's joke but unfortunately staying home is the best way to keep us all healthy. Our monthly membership dues will be going out on April 1st. I encourage everyone to support their membership as usual. There are a number of club upgrades in the works as well as many ongoing financial responsibilities to keep current. We appreciate your continued support of Berkeley Yacht Club while we are going through this trying time.
This Saturday, March 21st at 7:00pm, Berkeley Yacht Club will host it's March 2020 Corporation Meeting as required by our bylaws. As we must comply with Alameda County and City of Berkeley’s call to “shelter-in-place” this will be accomplished via the video conference application called Zoom. Feel free to use your computer and webcam and make sure you have active computer audio. You may also dial in with your phone if you would prefer. Just prior to the meeting we will send out a message with the video conference link or dial-in number.
The BYC Board of Directors held a special Skype meeting Tuesday, March 17th to address the current COVID-19 directives. Decisions were made based on the mandate to shelter in place and to close all non-essential businesses. Therefore the BYC will remain closed to all members until further notice.
